Project Manager

I was the Project Manager of the gamifi-ED Project. This is a huge project that started out with my classroom, and with some people at the University of Alaska, now the project includes many more teachers and classrooms and is still expanding.

Having the opportunity to be one of the main leaders of this project was a thrilling experience. It taught me lessons such as learning how to manage a group of people and allow them to use their skills to their fullest extent.

It also taught me how to deal with problems. Problems arise fairly quickly when 30+ are working together on a project. This requires unity and common meetings to know how work is flowing and what should be the next major task.

Being project manager also taught me about incentives and how they can help people work. For example, each time we finished twenty serious game reviews, my class would have a candy day. If I provide a hard worker an incentive, another person will want to work harder too.

The gamifi-ED Project is a group of students and educators that are collaborating to debunk the myth of the educational "app store". We have created an encyclopedia of serious games that have been reviewed by students and educators.
